LOCATION: Social Building, 1-14-9, Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan
Relaxing atmosphere + gentle music + great coffee + palatable dessert, these are the ingredients for a perfect afternoon of reading.
Just a 4-minute walk from Shibuya station, Emma Lounge is a relaxing cafe great for reading a book, chatting with friends, writing a blogpost (which is what I’m doing right now), playing chess, or spending “alone time” to unwind after a long day.
Despite its location at the heart of the bustling city (ward) of Shibuya, once you step into the magical portal of Emma Lounge with a classic interior and gentle music playing, you’re brought into a world where time seems to be moving at a pace of its own.
Affordable and delicious, prices for drinks range from ¥300~¥600, main dish at ¥900~¥1400, and desserts at ¥450~¥690.
I had a gateau au chocolat (simply chocolate cake in English) and a cafe latte. The chocolate cake was rich-flavored and it paired well with the vanilla ice cream and frozen strawberries that came with it. The coffee was divine.
Whether you’re a traveler looking for a quiet afternoon after all that sight seeing or living in Tokyo with a hectic work schedule, Emma Lounge is worth a visit to slow your racing thoughts and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
