5 Tips to Remember When Grocery Shopping to Save Money

1. Go grocery shopping twice a week.

Limiting the number of visits to the grocery store limits us from spending more as opposed to going every other day.

Going either on a Saturday or Sunday and buying 3 days worth of groceries, and then another grocery trip on Wednesday is a good way to practice this habit.

2. Be flexible with your ingredients.

Check what ingredients are left in the fridge. Write them down. When you arrive at the grocery store, check what are on sale and think of a menu that you can make with the one on sale and your veggies in the fridge.

This way, you’ll be using your tomatoes or eggplants at home before they turn into a helpless heap of mushy stuff.

3. Set a budget.

Now this one is a no-brainer, which many of us tend to underestimate.

But when was the last time you actually set a budget before going to the grocery store?

If you can’t remember when, then it’s time to budget my friend. Setting a budget limits us from buying things we don’t necessarily need.

Your wallet will thank you for this, as well as your crammed fridge overflowing with expired peaches that you bought a ton of just because they were on sale.

4. Don’t be too excited with produce ON SALE.

Just because avocados are on sale doesn’t mean that you’ll save money when you buy 4 bags.

Chances are, you’re not gonna be able to finish all that before they go bad and turn into mushy goo.

You can have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner being creative with different recipes, but by the time you’re on to the third bag, you’ll probably be fed up with it.

5. Keep a record of what you bought and how much you spent.

You can either write it down in a notebook, type it in your phone, or tablet, or laptop or wherever you choose to keep a record of your spendings.

By doing this, you will be able to track down how much you spend and get ahold of your spending habits.
